Editorial Service

iStock_000004645645XSmall[1].jpgOur Editorial Service is a specialist, individual provision offering one to one tutorials in person or via the telephone.

The Editorial Service is especially for those who require a detailed, step by step, line by line, analysis of their work in progress.  It is an opportunity to fully understand and know your characters, setting, voice and narrative, and with guidance and support bring these elements together to make a more rounded, viable and believable piece of fiction.

Throughout the session questions are asked to help define and shape plot development, characterisation, language used, tone and overall description.

This service is primarily aimed to help you know your story inside out and to justify every word.

One to one tutorial helps you to understand the dynamics of your manuscript, helping you to look at your work with fresh insights.  Viewed with new eyes to help lift the story off the page line by line.

As a writer you need to know what makes up your protagonist. You may need to justify the antagonist’s motives. Is your dialogue right for the era? Would your secondary characters be using such modern devices?  Does the narrative flow seamlessly? Being asked specific, leading questions will help you to understand more, and in some cases guidance towards additional research will help further.

A few choice words may add flavour to enhance your story. Characters with similar voices and tones will find new voice and tonality, all by gaining a clearer understanding of your manuscript, as well as the dynamics and make up of your main and secondary characters.

Editorial work is intense and meaningful and needed only when the work is completed but does not feel entirely ready. It is not for the faint hearted, neither is it for those who are looking for a pat on the back. Your manuscript will be analysed, dissected, re-jigged and scrutinised but the end result is to get your fiction into shape, to make every word count and to build a stronger story then when it began.

Fee: £40 per hour.

To get the most out of the sessions you will need to set aside at least two hours of uninterrupted time and have to hand all your writing materials and your manuscript.  A copy of your work must also be sent in to us, either by post or as an e-mail attachment, at least five days before the session commences.

Personal one-to-one tutorials can be paid for by cash, cheque or by using the Paypal link below.

For telephone tutorials, payment needs to be conducted by bank transfer 48 hours before the session begins.
