Poetry Competition Rules
- Poets must be 18 years old or over to enter.
- The poem(s) must be entirely the poet's own work and previously unpublished.
- The poem(s) must be no longer than 30 lines.
- Any poems that have been viewed on a writer's forum are permitted.
- Entries are accepted from all nationalities but must be in English.
- The entry fee is £5 per poem.
- You can submit as many poems as you like along with the correct entry fee.
- Entries can be typed or hand written.
- Cheques and postal orders must be in pound sterling and made out to Chapter One Promotions.
- No cash through the post.
- You can pay and/or submit your poem online by selecting one of the Payment Options.
- Repeat the online submission process for each poem submitted.
- Poem title(s) must be entered on the Paypal form in the space provided.
- When submitting online and sending payment by post include the poem title(s) on the back of the cheque or postal order.
- State the date and time payment made when paying online and posting poem(s).
- Inform us if the cheque or online payment is under a different name.
- For postal submissions include your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address and poem title on a separate sheet of paper.
- No personal details must be written anywhere on the poem.
- The deadline for submissions is midnight on Sunday 8th June 2008.
- The winners will be based on the highest votes received:
The poem with the most votes will win £1000
The second most popular poem will receive £500
And the poem with the third highest votes will pick up £250
- Online voting takes place from Tuesday 1st July 2008.
- The voting will close at midnight on Tuesday 15th July 2008.
- One voter picked at random will win £100.
- The winning poems will be displayed on the website for six months along with a brief biography of the poets.
- The prize money will be issued in the winner's local currency within eight weeks of returning a signed agreement.
- Previous top three winners are not permitted to enter the competition for one year.
- If your poem is short listed you are not permitted to vote.
- Only one vote per e-mail address allowed.
- The winners will be announced on the website on Sunday 31 August 2008.
- Only the winners will be notified by post.
Send a 2nd class stamped addressed postcard for acknowledgement of entry received.
For a list of winners send a 2nd class stamped addressed envelope to Chapter One Promotions marked 'Poetry Winners 2008'.
The copyright of the poem remains with the author who gives Chapter One Promotions permission to display it on the website.
The judge's decision is final.
