Competitions
We run several competitions throughout the year, each offering substantial prizes, plus publication for the winning short stories in our International Short Story Competition anthology, including online voting to determine the winners of the Poetry Competition. For young writers and artists we have two children's competitions featured in our Kid's Korner section. For those who enjoy a true romance, there is the Romantic Fiction Competition.
The International Short Story Competition receives entries from all over the world to compete for the top prize of £2,500.
We also run competitions for those who are in the process of writing a full length novel in our Novel Competition which are judged by industry professionals, and the Self Published Book Award, a competition for those who have self published both fiction and non-fiction books. The Novel Competition is held every two years and offers one winner the opportunity of seeing their novel published. The deadline for this competition is Friday 28 February 2014 and for the Self Published Book Award the deadline is on Thursday 28 February 2015.
Blood Ink Crime Writing Competition is for those who have a passion for crime. Judged by a leading crime author, this competition is set to open the way for new and established fiction writers.
The 1st Paragraph Competition sets out the first one hundred words to a story that you complete in under 3000 words. Each year the opening paragraph will change and for the first time winners and runners up will be published.
The Children's Chapter Book Competition is aimed at writers who are adept at writing fiction for children. Judged by a children's editor, the extracts can be from a manuscript that is suitable for children who are just learning to read by themselves, a parent who reads out loud at story time or for teenagers with a knowing grasp of the adult world.
