'JANE EYRE'
by CHARLOTTE BRONTE
Jane Eyre is a sad but strangely magnificent novel brimming with emotions of loss, love and sadness. The story of Jane Eyre’s life is a sad one. A plain girl with a kind heart who was brought up by her cruel aunt and then cast off and sent to a school where she lived in poverty for eight years. She eventually seeks a job as a governess at Thornfield Hall, where she meets the darkly fascinating Mr Rochester. However, as Jane adjusts to her new, more peaceful life at Thornfield Hall and her friendship with Mr Rochester becomes deeper and more meaningful, a sinister and horrifying secret threatens to make Jane’s first glimmer of happiness come crashing down around her.
The brilliant Charlotte Bronte weaves a tale with so many marvellous and vivid characters – the dark and mysterious Mr Rochester, the terrible Mrs Reed, the kind and companionable Mrs Fairfax, the cold but commendable St John and of course the wise heroine herself – that you will be unable to stop reading until you reach the final page.
